"Guidelines Towards a Better Society" – Mr Godfrey Dunkley.  This talk will look at some of the questions facing our society today including:  What makes for a better society?  What are the problems facing our society?  Why do we have unemployment, poverty and extremes of wealth?  Where does the value lie?  See Land Value Model.
In what respect do we need to change our thinking and education?  Who can lead the field in bringing about the necessary changes?  Changes in taxation could play an important part.
"Philosophy and Food" – Mr Jason Hughston.  Food is unarguably central to our well-being.  Good, wholesome, nourishing food is essential to our health.  Yet despite its abundance and there being so much nutritional information, why is it that there is so much ill health and confusion?

"Increasingly the rights of private land owners are eroded under the guise of environmental concerns, the UN biodiversity programme and Agenda 21 and the principle of distributive justice and intergenerationaljustice," according to Gerry Bates at the Conference on Rural Land Use Change.
"Increasingly numbers of property owners are having their Property Rights wantonly disregarded by government departments, agencies and quangos in an ongoing manner with no relief in sight. A crucial foundation upon which our long-standing prosperity rests is the institution of private property - especially houses and land. As community attitudes to heritage, conservation and environmental management have changed, government has imposed more and more controls on what can be done with privately owned property - in many cases without consultation or compensation for long-term owners." (Professor Joe Poprzeczny, West Australian University).

WHO'S REALLY RUNNING AUSTRALIA ?

Speaker:       Nick Cater

Nick is author of the explosive analysis in his just-released book, The Lucky Culture, a no-holds-barred account of who really "calls the shots" in Australia.  Governments and elections come and go but the real (unelected) centres of power just keep promoting their agendas.  Who are they?  Cater has identified them and shows how they've been working towards transforming Australian culture into something the majority not only don't want, but generally don't realize it's happening.

He's a journalist of 30 years standing, a University of Exeter sociology graduate.  His journalistic career began as a BBC studio manager in Britain.  He joined News Ltd, publishers of Perth's The Sunday Times, in 1989 in Adelaide, has worked in Canberra and as a foreign correspondent in Asia, after which he joined Sydney's Daily Telegraph and has been a senior editorial executive at The Australian since 2004.

WHEN:    Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013
TIME:      7.00pm for 7:30pm, (sharp)
WHERE:  Royal Perth Yacht Club (River Room), Australia II Drive, Crawley

Nick Cater says: "Australia's luck did not fall from the sky; it had to be torn from the earth in a triumph of mind over muscle.

"The secret of Australia's good fortune is the Australian character, the nation's greatest renewable resource.  Liberated from the constraints of the old world, Australia's pioneers mined their reserves of enterprise, energy and ingenuity to build the great civilization of the south.  Their over-riding principle was fairness: everybody had a right to a fair go and was obliged to do the right thing by others.

"But this spirit of egalitarianism is now threatened by the rise of a new breed of sophisticated Australians who claim to better understand the demands of the age.  Their presumption of superior virtue tempts them to look down on others and assert the right to rule."

Come along, bring a friend - ask a tough question

• 2012, May 22, Land Hoarding Petition (380 signatures)
   NEWS RELEASE, 22 May 2012
Holding land from being used is opposed by petitions with a total of 380 signatures being presented soon to the WA Parliament by John Quigley, MLA.
Burns Beach builder John Hollywood in an independent effort started the petition and spent several weekends between June 6, 2010, and July 22, 2011, at Alkimos collecting signatures, with occasional helpers.
The petition wants the Alkimos development about 40km north of Perth G.P.O. to be subject to a rule that buyers must build within two years (159 signed) or three years (221 signed).  Presumably if they don't build, buyers lose the land but get their money back.
The petitions also ask that no land sold there by Landcorp be allowed to be sold to other people unless a building has been completed on it.
The thought behind these two requests is to stop people speculating in land, thus putting upward pressure on prices, and so making it unaffordable for would-be homeowners.  Homelessness is a serious problem in Perth.
Mr Hollywood says that Perth has 40,000 vacant blocks, and in some suburbs the number of vacant blocks is so large that it affects the viability of local businesses, and keeps schools from being used to their full capacity.

The resolution in part reads: "The people of Alabama … not UN bureaucrats – have the authority to develop the state's environmental and development policies."  Agenda 21 was evidently adopted at the 1992 Rio Conference, flowing from earlier conferences in 1981, 1983, and 1987.  They wrote an Earth Charter.  Host: The Hon. • SUNDAYS, ALKIMOS PETITION (re-started Apr 10, 2011), 1pm to 4pm, and after June 26, 2011 to July.  Might resume later.)  Friends of Alkimos, PERTH, W.A., metropolitan area:  Petition - Give families access to land at a reasonable price.  To get to the Alkimos petition site, drive northwards along Marmion Avenue, pass Jindalee Boulevard, pass Romeo Road (not Avenue) and go about 100 metres (approx. 100 yards) to a roundabout which has a sculpture like the part of the Alkimos shipwreck sticking out of the water, to see the "Petition" or sometimes "Alkimos for families only" campaign signs (Road map UBD 84 D 9).  It is about 20 kilometres north of the Whitford City Shopping Centre, that is, about 40 km north of the Perth General Post Office, as the crow flies.
Or obtain petition forms from John Hollywood 08 9304 8361 and collect signatures.  Or log on to <friendsofalkimos.org>.
The petition asks the W.A. Parliament to order that, in the suburbs of Alkimos and Eglinton (1) All holders of the new land blocks must build a home on it within two, or three, years, with similar rules for commercial and industrial land, and (2) Residential lots there cannot be onsold.  These 21,000 blocks, that could be kept affordable at about $100,000, at present are owned by the State Government, that is, by the people.
Don't let this land be subject to the State Government profiteering, or to speculators buying blocks here and there, to hold until they or their heirs make predatory profits.  (Perth in Western Australia has about 20,000 to 40,000 vacant blocks in private hands, of which less than 10 per cent are genuinely available for sale to be used by home-builders or businesses.)  Do this for yourselves and for the next generation.

PINNING THE TAIL ON THE DRAGON - AUSTRALIA'S CHINA FUTURE
Does the 21st Century Really Belong to China?
Is China seducing the world or is it the other way around?
How is it that in a few short decades China has become a "regional benign neighbour" and "responsible global participant"?
And what does this mean for Australia's future?

In the contemporary Western world, pro-China policies increasingly stand at the forefront of Australian international relationships. Is this placing the security of Australia and the interests of all Australians in jeopardy, and if so, how and what can be done about it?
We cordially invite you to participate in a Public Forum on this topical subject to be addressed by
Kate Reid-Smith
Kate Reid-Smith is a China and Southeast Asian geopolitical specialist and former Military Intelligence Officer, now Darwin-based research academic at Charles Darwin University, who has published and presented papers on China's 21st century global expansion throughout the world, and continues working in the field of international relations.
Her most recent published work is 'Crocodile Oil: Dragon's Treasure' in Crisis in Timor-Leste, Dennis Shoesmith (editor).

You are warmly invited to a public forum addressed by
Peter Kavanagh, MLC
DLP Member for Western Victoria
Peter Kavanagh, a qualified lawyer, linguist and specialist in Asian studies, has recently addressed a similar meeting in Queensland and attracted a good crowd, including a significant number of young people. He has also addressed the Feb 2009 National Conference of the NCC on the subject of the Victorian abortion legislation.
At the 2007 Federal election, the DLP's WA Senate team received over 11,000 primary' votes, showing that the spirit has remained alive even though no candidates had stood in WA for about 25 years. In order to grow in WA, it needs the support of more members willing to stand up and be counted. Specifically, we need more members to enable the party to be registered in WA. Federal elections are not a problem, as the Perty is already registered Australia-wide. Visit www.dlp.org.au for more information on the party and the speaker.

Climate Change - Warming or Cooling?

Is Global Warming a Reality or Just Hot Air?

Is the Carbon Reduction Trading Scheme a Con?

Is the World Really Cooling?

Why Higher Carbon Dioxide Levels Could be a Bonus, not a Negative

The Rudd Government's climate change policies, if they prove to be wrong, will cause economic harm at considerable cost to all Australians.
There is very good reason to claim they are wrong.

We cordially invite you to participate in a Public Forum on this topical subject to be addressed by

David Archibald

Perth based scientist who has presented papers on climate science
in New York and Hong Kong and operates in the fields of cancer research,
climate science and oil exploration.

WHEN – Monday 23rd March, 2009 at 7:15 for 7:30pm start

WHERE – Royal Perth Yacht Club (River Room) Australia II Drive, Crawley

Copies of the speaker's book "Solar Cycle 24" (foreword by Prof David Bellamy) upon which the Presentation is based, on sale for $25 on the night

CNI is non-party political and aims to build a better Australia for future generations.

March 2009. Annual subscription $50.
[COMMENT: The book title Solar Cycle 24 suggests the speaker believes it is the Sun, not humans, which is changing the world's climate.  Other studies will be needed about deforestation, pouring acid into the Australian underground artesian water, running chemical fertilisers down creeks and pipes into lakes, rivers, and seas!
POLLUTION must be fought, not just the hype about Carbon Dioxide (CO2 ) emissions.  There is every reason to attack the ridiculous Establishment moves to have an Emissions Trading Scheme, to enrich some brokers parasiting in skyscrapers around the globe.  Population pressure is another problem that must be faced, not evaded as major opinion-makers have been doing for years.  Would you put 200 sheep in a paddock meant for 50?  Or 7 billion people on a planet big enough for about 1 billion or 2?  Shake off superstitions, and liberate humanity! COMMENT ENDS.]

2000 Feb 10: Australian Fair Trade and Investment Network (AFTINET)
Over 50,000 people demonstrated at the World Trade Organisation Ministerial (WTO) meeting in Seattle in November 1999. --Date: Wednesday, 22 December 1999 10:50 [for 2000 Feb 10]

Nov 30 1999 Tuesday: Perth activists held a protest "No New Round, TURN AROUND!" in relation to the World Trade Organisation ministerial meeting that was due to commence on 30 November (because of the international date line, Perth's protest occurred before Seattle's). About 20 people attended at various times outside the Exchange Building, Sherwood Court, in which is the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's WA office.
The Stop-MAI Coalition members held up a simple poster and handed out leaflets to those who were interested. Evidently another group had come at 8 am, and had been asked to leave. The small Stop-MAI group had no trouble.
Possibly the oldest campaigner there was Jack Griffin, who handed out leaflets he had prepared himself. One was headed "Help TURN AROUND the World Trade Organisation" (copied from Stop-MAI) and "Who Owns the WTO?"
After a while a Forests Alliance man came to talk, and he soon brought about eight teenage and young twenties people to take part.
Then a member of the Trades and Labour Council singing group came, and was later joined by another, but while I was there the number of choir members never rose above that. Unfortunately the Stop-MAI group decided to leave mid-afternoon. -- John Massam, 03 Dec 1999

WTO Public Hearings to be Held Next Month .
Trade Minister, Mark Vaile, today launched a process of public hearings to help refine Australia's negotiating position for a new round of trade negotiations in the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Mr Vaile said the hearings, to start next month (September), would provide a unique opportunity for people in all States and territories interested in trade to exchange views with Australia's most senior trade negotiators.
"This underlines my commitment to the principles of transparency and consultation in the formation of our multilateral trading policies."
"The Government has been a leading advocate of a new WTO round because it will be the best means of securing a better deal for our farmers and exporters of manufactures and services," Mr Vaile said.
"The views of the public will play an important role in sharpening our market access strategies and in defining our position on the various other issues that have been proposed for negotiation in the WTO."
Public hearings will be held in capital cities in all States and territories plus the key regional centres of Ballarat, Dubbo, Port Macquarie and Bundaberg. Dates and venues will be notified through notices in the press and on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade web page

This is another stage in the process of public consultations launched in February by Tim Fischer. That first stage resulted in over 130 written submissions from State Governments, industry representatives and members of the public from all parts of the country.
An Issues Paper, summarising the views made in those submissions, was released today and is available on the DFAT web page. It is being sent to all those who made written submissions and is available on request to people without Internet access. Department Contact is: Steve Moran tel 02 6261 2980.
The new WTO round is expected to be launched at the WTO Ministerial Conference in Seattle, November 30 to December 3.

Sep 28 1999 Tuesday 9.30am, Court day. Although police had confirmed at the weekend that the case would go ahead, there was a long delay before the Magistrate appeared on the bench, well after 10am. After a minor matter or two were attended to, the case was called -- and the prosecuting policeman requested an adjournment, because the File had been lost! The date of 26 October was proposed by the policeman. When the defendant was asked his opinion about the proposed adjournment, he said he had no objection, and he might find another witness!!! The witnesses for the prosecution were not asked their opinion about the adjournment. However, when some people afterwards compared notes, it appears that BEFORE the scheduled hearing time, a person who appeared to be on the prosecution's side, when the defendant said he was pleading not guilty, said "It's going to be a long day." As described above, the police in court asked for an adjournment -- and when this was approved, it was announced there was no other business for that court!!!
